Lake Shmills is the same ol Lake Mills! Weston Poulson 6/27/2016

Well, not a whole lot happened this week but it was still a good week!

Monday, we went golfing with Finna and Pony and that was a lot of fun! We all suck except for Elder DeSantis haha he's good but we could care less at this point! They want to go again today so bad! We probably will but they want to pay for us so that's chill. Then we went to Kenosha to sleep over at the Zone Leaders for Zone
Conference! We got there pretty late and hit the hay!

Tuesday we had an amazing zone conference and President Cutler gave a great training on Eternity basically, it was legit! haha lots of questions were answered and you could basically talk about it forever and it never ends, hence Eternity ahah. After that I went on Exchanges with Elder Marsh and man, he's a GREAT missionary! He's got the balance of just about everything down! He's got a cool story too, I hope to be as good of a teacher as him in my mission! Something cool for those of you playing at home who are my age, he DJ'd for DJ MARCUS WING and yeah, pretty dope haha.

Wednesday we ended the exchange and came back to teach Michael Shmidt. An Investigator we gave a Book of Mormon to about 3 days earlier and he was already in Jacob. Pretty awesome we taught the Plan of Salvation and it went so great. After he wanted to buy a Quad from LDS.org and he wanted the nice ones like ours! haha it was so cool!

Thursday, something totally crazy happened. It happens but as missionaries you deal with it and press forward! Michael dropped us and said he didn't want to meet at all anymore. The Book of Mormon wasn't for him and he said it talked about baptism too much in Old Testament times. He knows his Bible very well and we talked for a bit but ultimately it is his decision. If you want to know more about this story, email me separately.

Friday was rough not a whole lot. It Happens

Saturday we did service for the grandparents of some members in our ward and it was long! We moved all their stuff by about 1pm and then had a water balloon fight so it wasn't too bad! Pretty cool, I love them and they gave us Jimmy Johns and also pulled pork for dinner, that was yummy:)

Sunday we went to the Jacob's house and it was great, brother Jacob's might be the funniest guy I've ever met! I'll get a pic with him next time so you can see what he looks like, he's got the balance of being really funny and also representing a member of the church perfectly! They have a cool german shepard/lab mix that's cool too. Their neighbor has a red lab that's AWESOME!

Here are some pictures, hope you all had a great week! Love you! Hold it down!

¡Feliz Cumpleaños a Mi! Dallin's 21 6/25/2016

Las Sunday we had a really good day. A returned missionary gave his homecoming talk and it was just awesome. He shared some really cool experiences and that was just the beginning to a super good day of church. We have our district meetings after church because we can´t on Tuesdays at the office. I had the opportunity of sharing an attribute of Christ with the Elders. I chose faith. It´s something I have been studying a lot, and am trying to comprehend. We read Ether 12 3-22. Some verses I kind of found one day. Man I love them. They bring hope and light to any situation that you might be in. I definitely recommend to all of you to study those scriptures!

As usual we had the best meal ever for Sunday dinner. This time it was the biggest dish of Chopsui I have ever seen in my life! Topped off with crawfish! (or crawdads as we say!) Tomorrow we're having breakfast for dinner with them. Super pumped! (You know it's good food when I tell everyone about it in my emails haha)

As for when we did The Ruta. Or personal supply run through the mission. We didn't die! I wont say there wasn't any close calls though! haha -Don't worry mom and dad! I'm joking a lil bit!
We did have to pass a semi truck that decided to park in the middle of the road by driving on the sidewalk though!

I turned a whopping 21 years old on Wednesday! Thats just too old! What happened??? It was a super great birthday! I woke  up to the AP´s singing happy birthday to me at 6am. Also president bought us a giant chocolate cake! Elder Bate, one of the APs had his birthday the next day so we had a double birthday party in the office! So great! I also went to Denny´s for dinner! Success!

The only kinda bad thing that happened on my birthday was that the trucks transmission my be shot now. I don't think it shifts into 4th gear all of the sudden. Hope we can fix it!

Our mission president has about left now. He has 4 days left and he is out of here. Over the last few weeks we have been collecting handwritten letters from every missionary  in the mission on nice sheets of paper. Yesterday we went to a little book place and he made a super fancy book out of all the papers and it looks like a really nice book. We gave it to him this morning when he took us to breakfast for an ''Office Training Breakfast''. It was a precious moment!

That's all folks! I forgot my camera in the  house so maybe  will get photos up a little later or another day!

Life of Lake Mills Weston Poulson 6/20/2015

Well this email will be short and sweet but to start things off we went on Blitz's in Elkhorn on Wednesday and Thursday! I went with Elder Schimmel! It was weird cause i was in like 5th grade
when he graduated high school! He graduated in 08'. Testifies to me that its never too late til your 26! Hes a great missionary and really obedient which is great!

Oh last Monday we visited with Pat, the older lady we talk to and here's a pic of us with her! shes so awesome!
Tuesday we went to basketball and I started talking to Brady and Brennan's mom about what we do and our religion on the side. She said she had a friend growing up who was Mormon but then she moved to Salt Lake City. She was pretty awesome though, I taught her a brief version of the restoration and she asked if I had anything that she could have from our church. I ran out to the car real quick and grabbed a restoration pamphlet and the Book of Mormon and when it was my turn to play I looked over and she was reading it! Pretty cool! I wont be able to go to basketball this week but the next week we are for sure excited to follow up with her!

Finna and his friends, Josh and Pony are becoming really good friends of ours! They are soo cool! We were teaching Finna the Plan of Salvation and they came in a little later and said they like our heaven. Haha I do too!! Heaven is awesome! But they are awesome and we are going golfing in about 20 minutes so I gotta go!

I spoke in church yesterday for Fathers Day because the people who were supposed to speak weren't going to show up and it was awesome! My dad is the greatest man on earth and a great example in my life. Love him to pieces so if you see the old Tacoma rollin around through town give him a honk and a wave! He's the best!

You all have a great week! Hold it down!!!!

¡BIENVENIDOS A SAN PEDRO SULA! Dallin Poulson 6/18/2016

I´m gonna jump right into it!

On Sunday, 5 minutes before church my companion and I were asked to come sing ´´I´m trying to be like Jesus (in Spanish) with two returned missionaries in sacrament meeting. Little scary but it turned out really good! I really like that primary song!

We had some good lessons on Sunday, all except one! The mom was being super weird and kept winking and changing the topic to marriage and basically wanted us to marry her daughter. NOPE! We got out quick! haha

I am fortunate to have the BEST meal ever every Sunday night from the Molina family! He´s basically a professional chef and makes something totally different every week. I forgot my camera but I have some great pictures of the food we eat there!

We did some divisions on Monday where elder Elmer came with me to an appointment. We taught a guy while he was cooking outside and it was going pretty good. But as we were going to teach about the first lesson, he stopped cooking, sat down and paid attention. After sharing the first vision he had tears in his eyes. The spirit was pretty powerful and I could tell he was feeling it. It was a great lesson and he understood it so well! Best part about the mission right there!

The AP´s had a super good lesson that day also! At the end the guy asked to give a prayer thanking God that he was able to feel the spirit. He wanted to hug the elders for bringing the message of the restoration! They said it was one of the most spiritual lessons they had had in their missions.

I was surprised by getting a birthday package from my brother Weston!!! He sent me some awesome stuff and photos and everything!! Shout out to el Elder Poulson sirviendo en Wisconsin!!
¡Eres lo mejor!

I was just thinking last night about how lucky I am to have ended up on a mission. I have taken many paths through my life and many were not directed toward being a missionary. I don't know quite how it happened but I can't express how happy I am to be out here serving the Lord. Its just the best!
Today Elder Elmer and I went to the Coca-Cola sign on the mountain. Kinda like how we have the Y in Provo. We decided to hike waaay higher though and it was super fun and exhausting. Met a TON of youth from a nearby ward on our way! Also a returned missionary bought us some coconuts to drink and eat while we hung out in the hammocks up there!
Welcome to San Pedro Sula!

BIG WEEK!

BIG WEEK!
I feel like way too much happened this week to be able to put it in an email, but let's go for it!

First things first.. I went golfing this morning and it was SWEET! haha had a lot of fun with Elder DeSantis! His dad is a professional golfer so he knows whats up and now I hit my drives fairly straight! I wouldn't say I'm better though!

This email is probably going to be all over the place, I hope it all makes sense to you all! Last Tuesday was SO LEGIT! We heard that all of Lake Mills and the surrounding towns and cities went to Lake Mills middle school and had a basketball open gym and so we went! And man, it did not disappoint! I'll take a picture of it this week but man it was fun! Probably like 40 people plus some college players!

But I gotta get goin on this! Wednesday we did some service and the guy at St. Vineys said we could throw a metal desk down the stairs out back so we did and it was awesome! haha
Thursday, some cool ravioli happened.. So I don't know if you all remember about a week ago we played some basketball with the guys who live in out apartment complex just outside in our parking lot! They were funny and we just kinda told them what we do as missionaries.

But Thursday while me and Elder DeSantis were weekly planning, one of them whose name is "Finna" (Yes finna, and yes it's his Nicname haha) came up to our window and said "Hey I'd really like to sit down and meet with you guys sometime and talk to you about your beliefs and what you all do as mormons if that's alright." uhh wut. So we obviously said yes and then he was like "Alright cool" then walked away!

So yesterday, Sunday we were walking out of the apartment and caught him walking in and asked him if we could come over on Monday (today) and he said he's open after 8am. We had an awesome lesson this morning and he said we answered a ton of his questions already and man, we haven't even hit the plan of salvation yet! We are pumped for Finna right now so keep him in your prayers!

Also on Thursday me and Elder DeSantis and Angel Cabrera (Recent Convert as of a month ago) Basically moved a family's entire house worth of belongings out into a U-haul in about 2 hours. Desks upstairs and everything! Good stuff! haha we got our workout in that's for sure! The Cabreras are awesome by the way, I'll share their story in another email sometime!

Friday we had Spanish Conference. This was when all the Spanish called missionaries had a conference in Milwaukee! It was a ton of fun to see everyone again! I got to see everyone it was great! Here is a Spanish missionary pic for you all! I'm not by my companion but you know, had to be in the middle! haha But I'm by a member of the seventy, Elder Scott! He gave an AMAZING training on our priorities as missionaries. I could go for days on his talk but I don't have time, maybe after the mission going through my notes! like that will ever happen. haha
But also we went to go see Pat that night. She is a member of our ward but lives in assisted living so we go see her about twice a week. I'll get a picture with her soon but here's a cool story about what happened this week! Normally all we take in with us is our Book of Mormon so we can read with her but this time was kinda funny. I reached in the back and grabbed my whole bag and started walking towards the door and as I was walking I said to Elder DeSantis, "Why did I grab my whole bag? Who knows! haha" That's the exact words. Well, God knew. We got in there and it turns out Pat is pretty sick and she hasn't been able to keep food down for about 3 days. That's pretty hard on old people. But Immediately the thought popped into my head "She needs a blessing, that's why you brought your bag dummy" haha something like that! But I had moved my oil from my keychain to my bag about a week earlier. I would have forgot it. The blessing went great and we are going to see her again tonight!

Sunday we had an awesome sacrament meeting and I wish I had time to share about it but I don't! Maybe next week but it was on Charity! Look it up in the Bible Dictionary or something i'm not sure!

This week was sweet! Love you all! Have A Happy Day!

¡¡CHIWIN!! Dallin Poulson 6/11/2016

(Chiwin is my new favorite ´´spanish´´ word, it means ´´kid´´ or something like that! Pronounced like chee-ween!)
Howdy there friends and fam!
This week was just super. You know how I wrote about how the police don't enforce traffic laws that much? Guess who got lucky this week and got pulled over??

haha It's all good  though, I used my magic anti-ticket skills and got out of it.
Welp, the thing about the office is that I really don't have that much that goes on every week! It's pretty much the same thing every day. But we did have a couple little adventures.

My office window
That's not the end of the story! To prevent that from happening again, we took the Ruta boxes out of the truck and put them in the car port at our house. Welllll, it rained super hard. Thunder and lightning and everything.

AAAAannd the Ruta got soaked. Great. But it didn't really damage anything. Mostly just the boxes. We delivered it to the rest of the mission the next day and I haven't gotten any complaints yet!
We got a couple lessons in this week but really we don't have anybody progressing. Its super different when you can only work for about an hour or so each day!

SHOUTOUT to my amazing family for sending me a birthday package! I can't express how much I love each and every member of my family! You all are the best!
Welp, that's all folks!
Dallin

ps. if anybody knows how to fix the giant fountain of water that sprays out of our water tank that´d be great!

We fed a boa a rat.. SICK! Weston Poulson 6/6/2016

Well, this week was nothing short of your typical week as a missionary! I don't feel like a whole lot happened, especially since I wrote you all last Tuesday but here we go!

To start things off.. here's a massive pooch I saw.

We've been really working hard on finding more people to get a decent teaching pool going so not a whole lot of progression going on in our area as of right now but we have had some cool lessons!

This week we taught Maria Rodriguez who is pretty new, she has a little family that is pretty awesome and I hope to see them progress soon! But she injured her arm pretty bad before our appointment so we gave her a blessing, super cool!

Then we went to another Maria's house and I saw her kids out front playing basketball so naturally I went to play with them and asked them where there mom was. This was our first time actually coming to an appointment too.

But she was on the phone for a bit so as we waited and played some ball! Her kids and I hit it off pretty well and we were having a ton of fun! Elder DeSantis went over and talked to her for a while, while I was building our relationship with the kids! It worked GREAT! She opened up to us completely and it was pretty awesome! So we are pretty excited to keep working with her!

Not much else too exciting as far as investigators. WAIT! One of our investigators, Keith, loves disc golf so we are going to go with him next time he goes, should be fun! I hope I still got it!

Saturday the Stevenson family fed us like usual and it was sweet! we weren't the only ones they fed! The snake was HUNGRY! haha They fed them two live rats, it was insane. That snake is SO fast its not even funny! I won't send pictures of it all in the group email but if you wanna see, email and I'll send you some! It's cool! NATURE! YA!!!! haha sorry

This is my library, Wisconsin has a lot of buildings like this I've noticed..
ANYWAYS this week was pretty good! We are really trying to get some people to church this sunday, big goal of ours! But, that's about it!

Love you all, have a great week!!!
Weston

Vroom Vroom Dallin Poulson 6/4/2016

Hey there friends and fam.

This week I started driving the Honduran roads. IN the Honduran way. Driving here is insane.

No enforcement unless the police want money from you. People randomly stop, weave through cars at 100 mph, jump barriers, drop stuff, bikes and kids show up out of nowhere, and many other things! It's pretty fun though! Riding a motorcycle before the mission prepared me for this I think, you have to drive super aware all the time.

Super common road pic.  I found these bullets and they sum it up perfectly...

I
  • A green light signals the start of the race.
  • Driving in Honduras is a mix between a NASCAR race and bumper cars.
  • Honk at everyone … in all situations… sometimes for no reason at all.
  • It’s okay to make a two lane street into a 4 lane highway.
  • Blind curves are ideal for passing.
  • Double yellow lines, that mean “don’t pass” in most countries, are simply there for looks in Honduras.
  • If you’re kind and decide to let one driver in, expect ten others to push their way in as well.
  • Expect a giant yellow bus at anytime and any place, including going the wrong way on a one-way single lane road. Grrrr.
  • A red light means, “Watch out, someone is coming through anyway.”
I drove a ton. I drive for what we call the Ruta on Tuesdays. When we distribute all the supplies to all the missionaries each week. It takes about 4 or more hours to go across the mission.

I had to do it again on Wednesday, because 3 missionaries from opposite sides of the mission had transfers but didn't know about them.

So I was like their taxi service! haha We had several days this week where we worked from 7am to 10:30 pm because of transfers.

The missionaries that were finishing their missions slept at our house on Tuesday night. It was a fun time mixed with laughing and crying.

Due to transfers, we didn't even get to work in our areas so far. It's actually really sad. I didn't realize how much I would miss it! But my comp and I set goals to leave the office for at least 1 lesson every day. And take a half day on Fridays. It should be doable now that transfers are over.
I am loving the food in this area. We work right next to the mall and we eat at the food court all the time. Finally back to normal food and not beans and rice!

hahah The members in my area are super super rich and feed us really good food most the time. We only have 3 meals a week from them but they are super good!
One family has a real Golden Retriever dog! So that's awesome!

There is a guy from Canada in my ward that knows German, French, English, Spanish, and Kiché from Guatemala.

Cool stuff.
Welp that's all for this week. Pics!   Dallin
