Sunny And 70 In Lake Mills Baby! Weston Poulson 8/22/2016

Wes volunteering at St. Vincent De Paul's store

Well this week was pretty interesting thats for sure! Did some good work and Fiana will be baptized this saturday so that's pretty awesome!

Monday, we just went to the Cabrera's and rode some bikes around after pday it was pretty fun, that family is so awesome! He wants to come hunting with me when i get home so we'll see how that goes!

Tuesday was pretty interesting, we were tracting at an apartment building and the first two doors went pretty great! They both gave us return appointments and then the third door a guy named Kevin answered. He's like 6'3" and like 250. We could tell he wasn't totally there when we started talking to him but that doesn't matter, we still taught him!  It was going well and i was teaching him the first vision when all of the sudden he looked mad at me. His eyes were at the top of his head and he started leaning towards me. At first i thought he was mad until he went full
boneless and collapsed in our laps! He passed out! I knew his mental state wasn't the best so we turned him on his side just in case he threw up or something then prepared for the worst haha i was ready to call 911 and elder Burgon had me knocking on the neighbors door for help when in the middle of all of this we just see his eyes come to life and he's like "...I'M OKAY" and we were like, you good? Let's take you to your bed so we did! haha It was funny! Also went to the Wehrhauns but we didn't get to haul hay but we did get to play with their new chocolate lab puppy! She bites a lot but i loved it.

Tried to get in contact with a lot of people, ended up meeting a guy named Angel on the street. I never pass an opportunity to talk to hispanic people so i did and we got a return appointment and for the first time ever he called us and told us he couldn't make it and that we would have to reschedule!! YEAHHH! I'm happy cause that means he actually cares so that will be awesome!

Friday we played ball and it was fun! Had Dan there with his son, we did service for St. Vinneys and he used to work there. Then we took a cool hood pic, It's not centered but aye we all fall short!

Saturday the ward and a pool party and we went and played sand volleyball! pretty fun, It was just chilly for everyone to swim so it worked well for us as missionaries! It really cooled off for us Saturday and Sunday was amazing! We went and saw Pat and just sat in the sun because it was in the 70 with a breeze. Pretty sweet and it went along well with the opening weekend of the bow hunt! Speaking of, i want some hunting pictures! i better get some from yall!

Hope you all had a great week! Keep moving forward and keep progressing! Thats what life is for, have a great day and a great week! LOVE YA!

Monociclo Dallin Poulson 8/20/2016

This week was pretty eventful! Bunch of odd stuff haha! Let's jump right in!
On Sunday during lunch we were eating with some members and the grandma was there. She had recently gone to visit Israel with her daughter (because she married a muslim man I think) and the war got really bad. They were there for a month and she told us how they would see the missiles coming in and how other missiles would go and hit the incoming ones. The stories were incredible!

Later on Sunday we had divisions in our area and we were able to work with two companionships in our area. We had a bunch of good contacts and talked to some great people. One lady was super atheist and the guy next door jumped right into talking about polygamy! Fun stuff! It was a great day and we taught a couple new people. (Finished the night having awesome hamburgers)

On Monday I was chosen to drive the mission presidents and their wives to the airport. Lots of pressure when you have two mission presidents watching how you drive! Especially here! It turned out okay though, I don't think they got too scared! haha

Monday I went with Elder Olsen to deliver a table to a farther area of our mission. On the way back we were going down the highway and all of the sudden our truck-bed cover caught some wind and exploded and flew off the truck! REALLY far! We had to flip a U and we found it in the ditch. Pretty lucky that no one was around that's for sure!

My trainer, Elder Hadley and his group finished their mission this week. Everyone that finishes stays their last night at our house because we have a lot of beds and it's easier that way. So I got to hang out with him and he gave me a ton of stuff he wasn't going to take with him! Score! I drove them to the airport. Definitely a baggy/trunky time! haha but it was good.

Last night we had a great first lesson with a lady in the rich part of our area. Her name is Diana and she understood it all. Which really is an accomplishment! Feels good when you teach clearly, that's for sure.

The best part of the week (and maybe my mission) was that I got to ride a UNICYCLE yesterday. We saw some street performers and decided to go contact them. They let me ride it! I am pretty rusty but I will upload a video! Good photo as well! We gave them a Book of Mormon and some pamphlets!

Love you guys, keep fighting the good fight!  Dallin

6 more weeks in Lake Mills! Weston Poulson 8/15/2016

Yesterday we got the transfer text and I'm staying here for 6 more weeks! I'll be out next transfer for sure though just so you all know! September 25th is when we get the text and the 28th is when I'll be moving!

Monday was alright! We went to the Lord's house and I played some catch with her 13 year old son TJ. He doesn't have brothers so I'm being his while I'm here in Lake Mills. We played some basketball too! It was pretty fun! After that we went to Kenosha to sleep at the Zone Leaders apartment so we would be on time to zone training on Tuesday!

Zone training went well! Got to see Sister Brian from my MTC district and Elder Lopez, I'll attach a picture of us! We all came out together! After Zone training I went on exchanges with Elder Shimmel. He's the 26 year old and he's dope! We took a pretty awkward picture and a good one, but I'm sending the awkward one! haha on exchanges we went to the Holtz family in the Elkhorne ward and he had some monster white tail. Good talking hunting again!

Friday it rained all day but we still tried to play basketball! Michael Bunker was the only one to show up! Michael is 14 and he loves basketball so I've been waking him up at 630 to lay me. His family comes from Vegas every year to live in their lake house. But yeah we played in he rain and it was pretty fun!

Taught Tiana this week and she's for sure getting baptized on the 27th so please keep her in your prayers!

Saturday we did some service for sister Wilcock and it was pretty fun! We go to empty two sheds full of junk and put it on the curb. Wisconsin is cool like this, they go around once a month and do a free garbage pick up day. So EVERYONE puts a bunch of crap they don't want on the side of the road around this time of the month. And then its like a Hoarder Frenzy on the streets! People everywhere going through the stuff on peoples curbs just taking what they can get haha it's funny, sooo much junk. I did find in her shed an old Wisconsin license plate from 62' and some Utah ones.

Thats about it! Email my brother and get on his email list or just follow our blog if you want!

Thats all! Hold it down!

¡Un Escopetazo! Dallin Poulson 8/13/2016

Oh hey it's Pday again! Time is FLYING by here in the (mission) office.

On Sunday, we went to visit Walter Wong. We left the Book of Mormon with him at the end of a ´´get to know you´´ lesson. We came back to see how he was with plans on teaching the restoration and he surprised us by telling us that he read all the way to JACOB.  WOAH. I was a little excited! He had several questions but he seems to love it! We´re gonna go back tomorrow!
Last night I had a great lesson with Elder Escalante and Elder Elmer in their area. It was about repentance with a very humble and happy family. They all should be coming to church this week! Afterwards we contacted a guy that owns two ford mustangs from the 60's and 70's! He was really nice too.

Yesterday my companion and I left to our area in the morning with brooms and a machete to contact people by offering service! We helped two people and they were really nice. One made us a pretty good soup and we talked with their family. We'll go back there later as well.

As far as events of this week, do you guys remember the horse cart people that I sent a picture of? Welp, Elder Elmer was driving and cut a gap too close and broke our car mirror by it hitting one of those carts. They didn't even notice! But yeah, we had to get that replaced.
I went to Puerto Cortes 3 times in 2 days to help bring a missionary to doctors appointments.

During the Ruta that we do, we had to pick an elder up and take him to the president to be released. It was a crazy day of running back and forth and getting calls from all the missionaries asking where we were!

I received a referral today for someone in WISCONSIN. I looked it up and there's kind of a chance that I am sending the referral to my BROTHER Weston Poulson! That would blow my mind!

OH, the other night I woke up to a bunch of movement from my companion at 4:30 am. Like giant bangs and stuff. I thought that he was having a crazy nightmare or something, and all the sudden BOOOM. He jumped from his bunk bed to the floor! He turned on the light and said: There's a GIANT moth in my bed! hahahhahahahahah. Ooooh. Then it happened again an hour later! haha.

PDAY. We went and got our teeth cleaned at the dentist?  We got the idea last week and went through with it. A member is a dentist and cleaned them for like $13 each  (only 5 cavities... 😎 ) Not bad!

Later we went and played court soccer against the secretaries from the other mission. They beat us by one point after a long fought battle! It was a blast!

Love you guys! Keep on keeping on!

No Scars. No Stories. Weston Poulson 8/8/16

Well, this week wasn't bad! A lot of mean things said and doors slammed in our face but aye, that why I'm called here cause it doesn't mean a thing! haha anyways this one could be short or long, I don't really know until it's over so.. YEAH! lets hop into it!

Monday, we went back to the Wehrhauns and stacked some hay! Let me say this... I LOVE FARM LIFE! I could haul hay all day long, actually I find it fun! Hard work has started to feel that way for me now, and laboring hard is just awesome. So if anyone back home needs help hauling hay when I'm home, just give me a ring I'm so ready!! Ate some really good pizza and had a good time talking hunting again☺

Tuesday we had DTM and that was "good" haha typical! District Training Meeting but I'm not mad, gets me out of the area for a bit and I get to see some new stuff so I'm good for it!

Wednesday we got to do some service and destroy some couches! That was fun for the first five minutes but it was like 95 with 75% humidity and man.. got old but we got it done!

Throughout the rest of the week, we tried getting back in contact with our investigators on date but couldn't catch any of them! Good news is that Tiana will be baptized on the 27th so that's pretty exciting!

Saturday we helped Tommy Stevenson move to college! Man, he had a bunch of stuff! He's moving OUT and taking it all with him! He's saying see ya momma! haha I'll attach a photo of a truck we filled with his stuff and box's but we also filled a mini van and a 2 cars. I love moving people, it's great.

We mostly just knocked doors this week! Not a whole lot of crazy stuff happened so I'm just gonna leave ya with something that seemed to come up a lot this week and that was how trials make us stronger. Listened to a couple talks on Sunday night and also one this morning on some goof uplifting stuff but one I really liked was called "Rough Start, Great Finish" by John Bytheway and its really good! Shares some examples of people with amazing stories and success and how they all had a rough start to begin but by the end of their lives, they were Successful and amazing. Pretty great talk, I invite you all to listen to it! I took some good stuff out of it and one thing that came to my head is that if you see someone with no scars, I'll show you someone with no stories.

That was just a thought I had and then a little bit later I heard him quoting Brigham Henry Roberts (Look up his story, its amazing) and he said
"What is progression? -Overcoming difficulty.
Those who have the most difficulties, develop the greatest souls."

That really stuck with me and its something to remember through our trials that as long as we trust God and hold onto that trust, that we will emerge better and stronger than before and that is my testimony!

Love you all, have a great week! Hold it down!

Huracán Dallin Poulson 8/5/2016

Hey there everybody!
Confession time! I forgot my journal and my camera so this email will be kinda short and lame! haha

This week we contacted a lot of people in very, very, very rich neighborhoods. I now know what it is like to knock doors in the states! Rich people do not want anything! It's crazy because in my area we have the richest of the rich, and the poorest of the poor. There are giant mansions and on the other side of their wall, a small little house made from logs, mud, and tarps (these houses are called bordos and there are TONS). It is so hard to mentally grasp such polarity. It does change how we contact and teach people though. It's much easier to find the poorer people to teach but harder to help them understand. It's way harder to find the rich people to teach, but they understand the message much easier. Part of Preach My Gospel teaches that we should teach people, not lessons.  I always thought that would be much easier than it sounds. But man it really is easy to fall into a rut and just teach the same exact thing over and over again. I have noticed that if you really search for inspiration and have faith that it will come, that you can always have a better lesson that way.

As far as lessons this week we did teach a man named Walter Wong. His grandpa moved from china to Belize and had 13 kids! Walter used to work for the power company here and now sells products from the states. Oh and nope, he doesn't speak Chinese! He is really nice and we taught him about the family and Book of Mormon. He loves the scriptures so I hope he gets to reading it!

No Copan road trips this week! On Sunday we had to leave church half way through to go pick up an elder that went to the Emergency Room in Puerto Cortes, about an hour away. He had a hernia two weeks ago and got a surgery and was having post surgery problems. Its all sorted out now. He may or may not have caused the problem by interfering when their investigator and neighbor who got into a fight outside! Who knows!

There was a Hurricane this week! Hurricane Earl I think.  But fortunately for us, it really didn't hit us. It went a bit north for Belize! Hope everything turned out okay there. The elders in Puerto Cortes had a bigger chance of having problems as a result but they said it just rained pretty hard.

We did have a really big storm hit us last night! I have a video and stuff. It was really cool. The power went out about 3 or 4 times this week due to the rain. We went to pick up the other elders after the storm and the power was out and there was fallen billboards and TONS of branches on the roads.

Other than some random office tasks, thats all folks!
Keep being awesome!
I also want to invite you all to do your daily prayers, it brings so many blessings to our lives. I never really did them until a couple months before the mission and now I can't really imagine not doing them. I know that our father listens to us and helps us. We just have to ask and have faith in him. He loves us! How great is that?

Toodles!
No pics, forgot the camera!

No Subject Weston Poulson 8/1/2016

Well this week wasn't too shabby! I don't feel like saying everything that happened all the time anymore so I'm just going to write things that happened that are cool and things that I want to share! ALRIGHT!

Last P-day, after I left we went up to the Wehrhauns house! It was sweet! I got to feed their baby calf with a bottle! I'll attach a picture, her name is July. she was born in July haha. Anyways, brother Wehrhaun is my favorite!

He's shot some nice bucks with his bow and a bear with a 12 gauge shotgun from about 6 feet away. Pretty cool! I'll attach a picture of that too! But today we are going back to help them bail hay!

This week I went on exchanges with Elder Wright! It was alright, haha we helped a family move! that's always nice!

Something cool is that we accidentally knocked into the coolest guy ever! man, he's so cool! I wish I would have taken a picture of his house but it's my dream house!

Pretty Sweet, got some pictures of some of his old guns and stuff! He answered the door without a shirt on, his name is Russ!

This week was cool though! Knocked on Rose's door! She shared some trials and struggles she was going through so we offered a prayer then asked if we could share a message that would bring her great comfort and so we did!

We walked in and then shared the Plan of Salvation! She said it gave her some peace and also said she'd be baptized on August 27th. SWEET!

We knocked a ton of doors this week, more than I have done in Lake Mills yet and got a week set up for us! Hopefully it all goes through!

This week, I caught up my journal, that was the hardest thing! haha I was behind like 13 days and man, taught me a good lesson!

Don't put things off! It applies to a lot of things but I'm not going to go into it haha.

Finished the Book of Mormon this week again and I noticed something cool in Moroni 10:32. It's just a cool scripture and I invite you all to read it!

Moroni 10:32 Yea, come unto Christ, and be perfected in him, and deny yourselves of all ungodliness; and if ye shall deny yourselves of all ungodliness, and love God with all your might, mind and strength, then is his grace sufficient for you, that by his grace ye may be perfect in Christ; and if by the grace of God ye are perfect in Christ, ye can in nowise deny the power of God.

Well, short and sweet! You all have been the best and I thank you for your support! Wish you all a happy day and a happy week!
Love ya!

Hay que escivar los baches vos... Dallin Poulson 7/30/2016

Hey there guys and gals,

This week was another weird one, that´s for sure! Due to some interesting events I had to go BACK to Santa Rosa de Copan for a different missionaries bags and stuff. All in all, that day and the next I logged over 14 hours driving time running stuff and people around the mission! 6+ of which i was dodging potholes and semi-truck! Talk about tired! But we stayed the night in Santa Rosa, and ooooh boy it is nice and cool weather there. While we waited for the Elders there to finish their day we decided to go contact some neighborhoods to maybe help the missionaries out here. The people in Copan are so much more receptive than those of the city! haha It was a great time, really!

As far as investigators go we had a lesson on Lehi's dream on Wednesday with Maribel. She loved it! But she definitely has other doubts. So we're gonna keep on helping her!

Elder Correa, our immigration secretary was ordered from the doctor to stay in bed for 5 days due to something with his legs and veins. So we have been taking turns staying at home with him. On Thursday after lunch it was my turn and I decided to de-junk the house we live in. I cleaned for a good 8 hours straight. I called the guy that machetes our lawn and we made a deal that he would do our lawn for free next time ($40) for a bunch of broken fridges and bed frames! I organized our living room and the house has a whole new feel now. I got rid of  SO MUCH STUFF. Yesterday I also stayed and kept going. I cleaned refrigerators (stuff that expired years ago) and threw out  a ton of old broken things that were in the house. (Fans and house phones and junk). This morning a family with a horse and wagon came by and we flagged them down and they took it all. They collect trash and look through it for good stuff to recycle.

Anyways, point of the story is that the house we are in now is a house of order! D&C 109:8
 Organize yourselves; prepare every needful thing, and establish a house, even a house of prayer, a house of fasting, a house of faith, a house of learning, a house of glory, a house of order, a house of God;

Last night it rained and the power went out. It was still really hot so we decided to have a slumber party downstairs where it was a bit cooler. Woke up to a bunch of light and noise when the power came on at 2am but at least we could use fans!

And for pday we are just chilling today, I may or may not have bought a ukulele to try and learn some hymns.

Bubbye now,

Its So Hot The Chickens Are Laying Hard Boiled Eggs! Wweston Poulson 7/25/2016

Well, its HOT! As you can see in my caption! This past week was blazing and humid as ever! I stick my arm out the window at night and I'd get all sticky and wet! No bueno! Had a good rain storm that randomly came in and I guess we almost had a twister. That would have been GREAT! SERIOUSLY! Something exciting out here! haha but I got a cool video of the lightning and my comp standing out on the dock of the lake! I'll attach it but here's a picture!

But this week was alright! Not a whole lot happened but we got back in though with Maria and Roman! they are a family in Watertown and have been in Texas for a while! But they said we could bring the Cabrera family with us on Thursday for the next lesson. Hope all goes well there and we see some miracles!

Started playing basketball this week as a ward to get non members to come and it worked! We played outside and it was like 94 with a ton of humidity! Safe to say we were soaked! But it was fun!

Something cool happened this week, we got to go to Milwaukee for the baptism of Moises Sr. and his wife Ana Ruiz. They are the parents of Moises and Payo, the brothers I baptized in Milwaukee! Really cool experience seeing Moises Jr baptize his mom. It was pretty awesome and the Cabrera family loved the Spanish branch! Safe to say, they want one! I do too!

We also did a lot of service this week and it was good! Got to get out of the shirt and neck noose (tie) a couple hours!
There was a whole lot more than that happening this week and I know I'll remember it later but that's what the post mission is for, stories on stories on stories!

But I guess this weeks cool spiritual lesson is from sacrament meeting yesterday! Brother Laws (2nd counselor in our bishopric) spoke to us yesterday and told us about his hero. His story went like this.
"Today I want to talk about temples and family history but I want to start off by talking about heroes. We know we have superheroes and our parents as heroes but I want to share a story about a hero in my life. On November 17th, 2015 I met my hero. My son Kaden, whose 8 years old, was at his basketball game. Now, as you all know Kaden has down syndrome but that doesn't stop my wife and him from doing as many things as possible. So, during the game Kaden was having a blast running up and down the court, most of the time, the wrong way but it didn't matter, he was having fun. The whole game, none of Kadens teammates passed him the ball, which was okay because he was having fun. But then all of the sudden, a kid on the other team named Brock Whiter, on wrong side of the court called out Kadens name and passed him the ball and said "here Kaden, shoot it!" And you know, he missed but the next time the ball went out of bounds, Brock in-bounded it right to Kaden again and told him to
shoot it again and at this point the other players were starting to catch on and tried to get him a bucket. And this touched me. A 5th grade boy, and such a simple act touched my heart soo deeply. He didn't have to do that, Kaden was having fun but he did anyways. so I went up to Brock after the game and said "hey kid who are you?" and then just said thank you so much." All in all, he told it better then me but you never know what your small acts of kindness will do for people. Be like that 5th grade boy Brock and think of others first. This is the only way we can feel that level of joy. I have heroes in my life and i"m sure everyone else does too and so just remember and always keep that thought in your head to always serve others, and "bare one another's burdens" and yours will be lightened! That's a promise from our heavenly father and savior Jesus Christ!

Hope yall had a great week, I know I did! All of you family members who are reading this, I better get some sweet pictures of Moon Lake next Monday!

Love yall! Hold it down!
